25.10.20 - Changing the MA-EPD Premium Amount |
Determine the premium amount at application and renewal.
Contacting the Special Recovery Unit (SRU).
Only take action to change the premium amount in the following situations:
l At renewal.
l When a reported change results in a decreased premium including but not limited to the following:
n Decreased income.
n Increased household size.
Notify the DHS Special Recovery Unit (SRU) by sending a SIR webmail message to dhs.made@state.mn.us if a reported change results in a decreased premium. SRU will bill the new amount on the next billing cycle.
Note: SRU will not decrease the premium retroactively except in the case of worker error.
l When the income guidelines change because of a change in law, or the annual increase in the FPG Federal Poverty Guidelines. The amount of income below which a household of a given size is considered impoverished. The federal government updates the FPG annually. All Minnesota Health Care Programs income standards are based on the FPG. standards.
l When an IEVS match results in an increase in the MA-EPD premium. Apply the increased premium amount for the next available month.

Contacting the Special Recovery Unit (SRU)
To contact SRU send a SIR webmail message to dhs.made@state.mn.us with a subject of ”MA-EPD Premium New/Changes” and include the following information:
l Enrollee Name.
l Case number.
l PMI.
l Billing Address.
l Representative Payee.
l Month/Amounts Paid.
l Effective Date of Change.
l New Premium Amount.
l County and worker name.
l Worker e-mail code.
l Comments including reason for the change.
