Certain noncitizens are eligible for federally funded health care coverage based on age, immigration status and pregnancy.
Nonpregnant Adults
The following groups of noncitizens qualify for federally funded health care regardless of their date of entry or length of residency in the United States. They must meet all other health care program requirements to be eligible.
l American Indian noncitizens.
l Asylees.
l People certified as victims of trafficking by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).
l People with a T-Visa.
l People granted withholding of removal (formerly known as "withholding of deportation").
l Afghan and Iraqi Special Immigrants.
Other nonpregnant adults may be eligible for either federal or state funding depending on their length of residency in the United States or military service.
Pregnant women or children under age 21
Lawfully present noncitizens who are pregnant or children under age 21 are eligible for federally funded MA and MinnesotaCare.
