20.25.70 - AmeriCorps State and National and NCCC Payments |

There are three different AmeriCorps programs:
l AmeriCorps State and National. This is a national service program authorized by the National and Community Service Act of 1990. The program provides grants to States, Indian tribes, private and public nonprofit organizations and Institutes of Higher Education for community service projects, such as educational programs, environmental activities, and disaster relief.
l AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (AmeriCorps NCCC). This is a residential service program for young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 in which participants provide work teams for a variety of community service projects.
l AmeriCorps-VISTA. This program provides full-time members to community organizations and public agencies to create and expand programs that build capacity and ultimately bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty.
This section only addresses policy for AmeriCorps State and National and AmeriCorps NCCC payments. See Excluded Income for information on AmeriCorps-VISTA payments.
MinnesotaCare and MA Method A.
MA Method B, MA-EPD, MSP and LTC.
Count payments provided by AmeriCorps State and National or AmeriCorps NCCC, unless not counted under another manual provision.
MA Method B, MA-EPD, Medicare Savings Programs, and Long-Term Care
Exclude any cash or in-kind payments provided by AmeriCorps State and National or AmeriCorps NCCC, even if the payments are considered wages. These payments include, but are not limited to:
l Living allowance payments.
l Stipends.
l Food and shelter.
l Clothing allowance.
l Educational awards.
l Payments in lieu of educational awards.
