The Social Security Administration (SSA) Period Life Table is used to evaluate the actuarial soundness of annuities, promissory notes, loans and mortgages.
Effective August 1, 2008, the SSA Period Life Table is used to determine the actuarial soundness of annuities, promissory notes, loans and mortgages.
Use the Annuity Life Expectancy Table, for Method 2 annuities, promissory notes, loans and mortgages evaluated before August 1, 2008. Use the SSA Period Life Table to evaluate Method 1 annuities evaluated on or after July 1, 2008.
Counties were notified of the change to this table for annuities in Bulletin #08-21-04, ”Changes in the Treatment of Annuities for Medical Assistance (MA) Payment of Long-term Care (LTC) Services Eligibility and Benefit Recovery Announced,” issued May 27, 2008.
