GAMC Benefit Sets

There are two benefit sets for GAMC:

l  People with incomes less than or equal to 75% FPG and assets less than or equal to $1000 may qualify for full GAMC benefits.

l  People with incomes between 75% and 175% FPG and assets equal to or less than $10,000 for a household of one and $20,000 for a household of two or more may qualify for limited coverage while in the hospital through the GAMC Hospital Only (GHO) benefit set.

General Provisions

Except for income, assets, and inpatient hospitalization, the eligibility requirements for full GAMC and GHO are generally the same. They must meet state residence, citizenship and immigration status, Social Security number, and other requirements as described in this chapter. Also:

l  The earliest possible eligibility begin date for GAMC is the date of application. As a result, there are special provisions for health care providers to assist GAMC applicants in establishing their date of application.

Note:  This may be especially common for hospitalized applicants who are unable to apply when hospitalized due to illness or incapacity. See Date of Application for further information.

l  All GAMC applicants must meet certain legal criteria, as described in Legal Factors.

l  Applicants for full GAMC benefits who do not meet specific qualification criteria may be required to transition to MinnesotaCare. This requirement does not pertain to GHO applicants.
