11.20.05 - Amerasian Immigrants |
Archived: June 1, 2016 (Previous Versions) |
This group includes Amerasians (people of Asian and American parentage) who were born to Vietnamese mothers between January 1, 1962, and January 1, 1976, and are eligible for immigrant visas if their father was a U.S. citizen. Accompanying spouses and minor children also qualify for this status.
Note: This group would not include Amerasians from Vietnam that are here as nonimmigrants or Amerasians from countries other than Vietnam.
These immigrants are potentially eligible for federally funded health care (MA with FFP, or MinnesotaCare program LL, BB or FF) regardless of date of entry or length of time in the United States. They are also potentially eligible for Refugee Assistance Program funding.
No provisions for this status. These immigrants are admitted to the United States as lawful permanent residents (LPRs), so there would be no need for adjustment.
