Archived:  June 1, 2016 (Previous Versions)

Filipino Veterans Payments

Filipino Veterans Payments were authorized under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The act created the Filipino Veterans Equity Compensation (FVEC) fund. Payments from this fund are made to certain World War II Filipino veterans. The amount of the payment depends on the citizenship of the veteran:

l  Noncitizens will receive a one time lump sum payment of $9,000.

l  U.S. citizens will receive a one time lump sum payment of $14,000.

The payment will be made to the veteran’s surviving spouse if the veteran dies after applying for the benefit.

Treat these payments as follows:

l  MA Method A, MA Method B, MinnesotaCare for families and children, MA-EPD and Medicare Savings Programs:  Exclude from income.

l  MinnesotaCare for adults without children:  Count as unearned income.
