MinnesotaCare and Medical Assistance for Employed Persons with Disabilities (MA-EPD) are the two Minnesota Health Care Programs for which a premium must be paid to establish and maintain eligibility.
In general, premiums are paid on a monthly basis to share in the cost of coverage.
l The amount of the premium is based on income.
l Unlike a medical spenddown or a long-term care (LTC) spenddown, medical expenses cannot be applied to a premium to reduce the amount of payment.
