Chapter 25 - Premiums

Effective:  December 1, 2006

Archived:  June 1, 2016

MinnesotaCare and Medical Assistance for Employed Persons with Disabilities (MA-EPD) are the two Minnesota Health Care Programs for which a premium must be paid to establish and maintain eligibility.

In general, premiums are paid on a monthly basis to share in the cost of coverage.

l  The amount of the premium is based on income.

l  Unlike a medical spenddown or a long-term care (LTC) spenddown, medical expenses cannot be applied to a premium to reduce the amount of payment.

This chapter provides information on:

l  MinnesotaCare Premiums.

l  MA-EPD Premiums.
