Living Arrangements (Archive)

Minnesota Health Care Program (MHCP) clients live in a variety of community or facility (or institutional) living arrangements. The type of living arrangement is designated on the system with a specific code. The living arrangement may affect a client’s health care program eligibility. It may also determine whether certain health care services will be paid or denied by MHCP.

Exception:  People who meet all other eligibility requirements for Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA) are eligible for RMA regardless of their living arrangement. The Refugee Medical Assistance program, which is 100% federally funded, is not subject to living arrangement requirements.

For information about whether a client meets state residency requirements, or which county is considered the residence of (or financially responsible for) a client, see State and County Residence.
