Archived: March 1, 2008 |
Clients are required to report changes that may affect eligibility. This section provides more information regarding this topic.
Clients may report changes by:
l Phone.
l Mail.
l In person.
l Using a required scheduled reporting form.
You may also become aware of changes through other sources, such as:
l Changes reported by another person or agency.
l Changes reported by an enrollee to another program. For example, enrollees may report a change to Food Support staff that also affects their MinnesotaCare eligibility.
l Information reported by computer matches.
l Upcoming or potential changes that the agency has been tracking.
Clients must report required changes within 10 days after the date of the change, unless noted otherwise.
Clients must report the following changes for all health care programs:
l Changes in household composition, including household members moving in or out, births, deaths and marriages.
l Changes in or access to health insurance or Medicare.
l Pregnancy.
l Change of address.
l Change in employment, including stopping, starting or changing employment; starting or stopping a business; and changes in hours or earnings.
l Change in assets.
l Change in unearned income.
When you become aware of changes in circumstances, take the following steps:
1. Determine if you need more information. If yes, request the information.
2. Determine if the change affects eligibility for any household member. If eligibility continues determine if the change affects spenddown or premium amount.
3. Determine what action program rules require as a result of the change.
l Most changes require immediate action as soon as possible after learning of a change.
l Some change will not affect the case immediately, such as adding a household member to the household for MCRE.
4. Apply the change according to program rules.
l If no action is taken, document the circumstances in the case record.
l Track the change if it will require future action.
Some specific types of changes are covered in detail in other chapters of this manual.
Long-Term Care (LTC) and Elderly Waiver (EW).
