People enrolled in MA for Employed Persons with Disabilities (MA-EPD) must pay monthly premiums.
l To determine the MA-EPD premium amount, including the Unearned Income Obligation (UIO) follow steps provided in MA-EPD Income Calculation.
l County agencies are responsible for sending and collecting the initial MA-EPD premiums.
l The DHS Special Recovery Unit (SRU) is responsible for ongoing MA-EPD premiums.
Note: This section provides steps for workers to follow when a client fails to pay a premium.
l There are several different ways a client may pay the MA-EPD premium and the premium payments are applied in a specific order. See Payment Options, Refunds and Dishonored Payments.
l See Changing the MA-EPD Premium Amount for more information on when to make a change in the MA-EPD premium amount.
l Good Cause for non-payment or late payment is available and is determined by SRU.
A MA-EPD Premium Estimator is available for use and is linked to the DHS Disability Services website. The user can enter income and household size information to get estimated MA-EPD premium amounts.
